What You Need to Know...

Thank you for your interest in the E-ZPass Senior Citizen Discount Program. In order to participate in this Program you must be 65 years of age or older, have a New Jersey E-ZPass account, have a valid driver's license issued by any state, and have a vehicle registered in your name or your spouse's name in any state. You do not have to live in New Jersey to open a New Jersey E-ZPass account.

The Senior Citizen Discount Program is "tag specific" which means that you will be asked to identify the one (1) E-ZPass tag/transponder that will be used exclusively by the eligible senior citizen enrolling in the Program. There is an eleven (11) digit number on the tag/transponder and it must begin with "003", "009", "022", "025" or "029".

What You Need to Do...

To register for the E-ZPass Senior Citizen Discount Program, you must:

  1. include a copy of your valid driver's license;

  2. include a passenger vehicle registration in your name or your spouse's name
    (if you lease the vehicle, include copy (top portion only) of your lease agreement showing that you are the lessee);

  3. complete and submit the Application for review by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority

If the proper documentation is not received, your application will be returned to you. Please allow 6-8 weeks for processing. After that time, you may call NJ E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 1-888-288-6865 or check online at www.ezpassnj.com to verify that you are registered for the Program. Click "Check Your Account" then click "Plans".

Important Rules:

  • E-ZPass is not accepted in "Exact Change" lanes on the Garden State Parkway. Do not use an "Exact Change" lane or you will be required to pay the full cash toll.

  • The eligible senior citizen must be a licensed driver in any state and must be in the vehicle at the time the transaction occurs.

  • Discount is not valid during Peak Hours*.

  • The Senior Citizen Discount Program is available to only passenger vehicles. No commercial vehicles can participate in the Program.

  • Anyone who misuses the E-ZPass Senior Citizen Discount Program will be barred from further participation in the Program.

  • We reserve the right to assess full cash toll amount retroactively for any and all tolls charged at the Senior Citizen Discount Program rate if any unauthorized use is detected.

* Peak Hours: Mon-Fri, 7am-9am, 4:30pm-6:30pm; All Day Saturday and Sunday
